Mary Sue Ramsden, Esquire - President

Mary Sue Ramsden is a founding partner of the law firm, Raphael, Ramsden & Behers, and concentrates her practice in Family Law.   She received a Bachelor of Science Degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Pittsburgh in 1976 and obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1979. 

Attorney Ramsden was President of the Matrimonial Chapter of the American Inns of Court, which promotes legal excellence, civility, ethics and professionalism.  She is a Charter Fellow of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation and served on the Board of Governors of the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) and on the ACBA Judiciary Committee, which interviews, evaluates and rates judicial candidates.      

Ms. Ramsden is the Immediate Past Chair of the Family Law Section of the ACBA.  She was Co-Chair of the Court Relations Committee. Ms. Ramsden is a former Chair of the Mentor Committee. She served for many years as Co-Chair of the Children’s Issues Roundtable, a group of lawyers, judges, psychologists and mental health professionals who meet monthly to discuss issues relating to children in the courts.   

She is past President of the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania.  She served in the PA Bar Association (PBA) House of Delegates. She was a member of the executive committee of the PBA Women in the Profession. 

She is the recipient of numerous professional awards.  In 2011, she received the Women in Business Award from the Pittsburgh Business Times.   In 2009, she was given the Lynette Norton Award from the Pennsylvania Bar Association.  This award recognizes female attorneys who excel in litigation skills and who have demonstrated a commitment to mentoring young women in the legal profession. In 2003, the Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania selected her as the recipient of the “Susan B. Anthony Award,” given annually to an individual who demonstrates dedication to encouraging and promoting women in the law, while working to promote and maintain the highest standards for the legal profession, the judiciary and the court systems of Western Pennsylvania.  In 1999, Attorney Ramsden was one of the nominees for “Woman of the Year in Law and Government” by Vectors of Pittsburgh.  In 1998, she received the prestigious “Tribute to Women Award” for “Leadership in the Professions,” awarded by the YWCA.    

Ms. Ramsden has been highly rated in her profession by her peers.  She received an AV rating by Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible rating given.  Since 2005 she has consistently been selected by her peers across the state as a “Pennsylvania Super Lawyer”, a distinction received by only 5% of Pennsylvania lawyers, as reported by Philadelphia Magazine.  She has also been selected by her peers for inclusion in Woodward and White’s “Best Lawyers in America.”      

Ramsden is very proud that her law firm received the highest possible rating (Tier One) in a national rating by U.S. News and World Report for Family Law firms in Pittsburgh. 

Attorney Ramsden is committed to community service and has served on the Board of Directors of Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR), the Board of Managers of Shuman Center, the Advisory Board of the Women’s Center and Shelter Pro Bono Mental Health Project, Amen Corner Board of Directors and the PA Task Force of Child Abuse and Neglect. 

Raphael, Ramsden & Behers received the Pro Bono Service Award from the Allegheny County Bar Foundation for its commitment to pro bono service.  Attorney Ramsden donates extensive time to pro bono activities, including representing victims of domestic violence, providing legal advice to pro se litigants through the court Pro Bono Project, participating in “KDKA You and the Law Day”, acting as judge at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law Moot Court, participating in the Attorneys Against Hunger Project as well as the Neighborhood Legal Services pro bono Family Law legal clinic, and other legal and community service activities. 

She is trained in Collaborative Law, an innovative means of resolving legal disputes without litigation.  She is also a trained Mediator.  Ms. Ramsden is a frequent lecturer in Continuing Legal Education for both the state and local bar associations.

John R. Bozic - Treasurer

Currently serving in his second term as Treasurer, John Bozic has been affiliated with Amen Corner for over 10 years, and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2005.  John is a Vice President with Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation, an economic development organization committed to assisting new technology-based business ventures in Southwestern Pennsylvania.  As a former practicing CPA, he had previously held various management positions with Ernst & Young and Mellon Bank.  John and his wife, Michele, reside in Franklin Park.
